Concert Wednesday at Bowman Woods (Chatham Park)!
Pack up those lawn chairs and bring the family out to Bowman Woods this Wednesday, June 18 for another fantastic Cedar Rapids Municipal Band concert! Band Commission Meeting 25 June 2014
The City Band Commission will meet in formal session to review fiscal year 14 on 25 June 2014 at Taft Middle School (outdoors, at the concert venue for that evening). The meeting will start at 6:15 PM. The agenda include review of FY14 financial data, discussion of FY15 budget (specifically, the line items under which expenditures are tracked), and any items left from the last meeting.
This is an outdoor meeting. In the event that the concert is cancelled due to inclement weather, the Commission will postpone the meeting to Sunday, 29 June 2014, at Ellis Park.

City Band Commission Meeting 21 March 2014
The City Band Commission will have both a formal meeting and a working session on Friday, 21 March 2014. Sessions will start at 5 PM at the Washington High School band room at 2205 Forest Drive SE.
The working session relates to auditions for new personnel. The formal session includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Budget adjustments for 2014 (if required by city policy)
- Budget adjustments for 2015
- Publicity Manager
- Financial Report
- Band Logo
- BMI/ASCAP
- Approvals of minutes and other items.
- Auditions and review of absence policies with regard to IAM activities
The formal session is a public meeting, but the auditions are not.

Cedar Rapids Municipal Band Auditions 2014
Auditions will be held on Friday, March 21st and Sunday, March 23rd in the Cedar Rapids Washington High School Band Room.
Openings for: Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn, Trombone, and Percussion. Other instrument openings are possible and substitutes are needed on all instruments, particularly Oboe this year.
We encourage all qualified musicians to apply. To sign up for an audition, please e-mail, call, or text Scott Haney and leave a message indicating the following:
1. The name of the person auditioning
2. The musician’s e-mail address and/or phone number
3. The instrument(s) the musician will play
Audition Dates and Times:
Friday, March 21st 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Sunday, March 23rd 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Where: Cedar Rapids Washington High School band room
Who: Woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists in grades 9 through 12 who live in Linn County or attend a high school in Linn County and who participate in their school band program.
Audtion Material: Applicants should prepare a solo or solo excerpt for the audition; use of an accompanist is recommended, but not required. Audition pieces do not need to have a published band accompaniment.
