Fantastic Night of Music This Sunday at Ellis!

It’s our last performance at Ellis Park for the summer so you won’t want to miss it!The trombone section and our Margaret Kegel Young Artist Competition scholarship winner Tina Wichert will wow you with their flashy technique in addition to some flashy work from the band on Claude T. Smith’s Flight, favorite marches, and a symphonic suite from Star Trek.  Bring your friends and family (or pets!) out to Ellis Park this Sunday at 7:30 for a beautiful summer evening of great music!

Special Concert Sunday at Bever

Tomorrow’s concert will be a special one!  Not only will we be officially dedicating the new band shell and celebrating our donors, but hometown Grammy award-winning composer Michael Daugherty will guest conduct, and you will love our guest artists.  So gather your friends and family for an evening of great music at Bever.  It is one not to miss!

Concert this Wednesday at Johnson STEAM Academy!

It is another week of favorites for our first performance at Johnson STEAM Academy!  Be sure to bring your kids this week to enjoy FREE popcorn courtesy of Cornfusion and water.  Local trumpet legend Al Naylor will be with the band in addition to flutist Elizabeth Sadilek-Labenski.  You will also enjoy the flashy “Light Cavalry Overture” and kids will love a medley of music from the movie Aladdin.  Be sure to bring a lawn chair and come on out to the Johnson STEAM Acadmy playground for some great music!

Sunday is our only concert this week!  Join us at Bever Park for a concert that features our own:  Hear Andy Harris perform Mozart’s Horn Concerto and Denny Hodge on Trumpeter’s Lullaby in addition to a John Williams’ medley and circus march all will love!  “Rose Cottage” will be special tribute to long-time Municipal Band member, colleague, teacher, and friend Margaret Kegel.  Bring a picnic, friends, and your lawn chair for our 7:30 concert!  Please come early and enjoy the CR Youth Flute Ensemble perform at 6:30.

This week is full of treats and a little something for everyone!  For those who love the oldies and the musical Jersey Boys we will perform a medley, for those who love patriotic tunes we have saved our best for this week as we head in to the 4th of July, for those who love flashy flute playing we feature Prairie High School’s Amanda Happel, and for those who love great lounge tunes we feature Lynne Rothrock on vocals.  In addition to great music, we will also feature a children’s march on the Stars and Stripes Forever!  This is a great week to gather folks who have never been to a Municipal Band concert and bring the kids!  Concert begins at 7:30 at Bowman Woods Elementary School/ Park!
